Reinforced Victorian Brass Bed Frame mattress advice

Hi,
I have a Victorian taper lock iron and brass bed frame, which has been extended and re enforced to accept a super king mattress, We are about ready to order a Artisan natural or bespoke from you.
As I require a firm spring, I would like to benefit from a sprung base, rather than solid top. Previously with our old open coil mattress we had a solid edge 4" open coil spring base that folded along the middle width, for transport. Would this solid edge open coil spring base work properly with your pocket spring Artisan natural mattress? We can not go above 4" base as we would need a ladder to get in to bed ! Any thoughts ? As we are ready to order.

Thanks for your question.
Our mattresses are suitable for nearly all bases providing the base is in good working order, ie it has no damage or springs poking through! Since its not a slatted base there is no need to board it over. We would advise that if the base is still suitable then yes this should be fine providing it is the right size for the mattress. Ie no sides hanging over.
The Artisan Naturals is our most popular mattress, this mattress offers a nice medium feel ie not to soft and not to firm.
