Relyon memory impression mattress dipping
Hi, I recently purchased a Relyon memory impression 1400 mattress online (not from your site), after trying out in a department store. However, after a few months a large dip developed on one side (despite regularly rotating). The retailer has just sent a FIRA technician out who claimed this was normal for this type of mattress!
It is almost impossible to have a good night sleep on now (despite it only being 6 months old) and my wide regularly wakes up with a sore back as a result. Your site seems really thorough so kean to hear your thoughts?
How independent are FIRA?
Any suggestions on a way forward?
Thanks a lot, Paul
Hi Paul,
The issues you have described mimic many queries we have received over the years citing FIRA and questioning their independence.
Whilst we cannot categorically agree or disagree regarding the independence issue, The Guardian, in an article dated December 2nd 2011, reported on the very issue of the use of FIRA in resolving complaints made by consumers.
If you read this, I am sure you will reach your own conclusion.
Read here As a matter of interest, we would say that when sleeping on a mattress for at least 6 hours each night in the same position, that mattress is likely to develop indentations.
These could be minimise by turning and rotating the mattress on a regular basis thus prolonging the life span of the mattress.
This action, together with the use of a decent mattress topper to take the brunt of wear and tear rather than the mattress surface, will extend the life of your mattress.
If a topper is applied at the outset rather than when indentations have appeared, this will undoubtedly result in your mattress remaining indent free and as new.
Read here for more about the value of toppers.
