Side and front sleeper, what mattress?

Laura Hickman

Hi,
I'm looking for a kingsize mattress. I usually go to sleep on my side but end up on my stomach with the pillows thrown on the floor. I have developed pain in the shoulder I lay on, possibly from my dodgy old mattress. I recently slept on a Millbrook Vista 2500 while on holiday and my shoulder dramatically improved. Which of your range would you recommend?
Thanks in advance
Laura

Hi Laura,

Thanks for your question.

Side sleepers need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers to avoid pressure point pains and front sleepers need to avoid anything too soft in the top layers to avoid causing an unnatural arch in your back.

You're therefore best off going for a medium feel in the top layers to give that slight sink but not too much.

Have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 and Artisan Naturals models. Both have that medium upholstery giving that slight pressure relief in the top layer.

The main difference is that the Artisan range is constructed using natural fillings which generally last longer as well as providing a cool sleep surface.

We would need to know your body weights in order to discuss spring tension;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
