Sinking too much on memory foam?

Hi, I am 5 ft 5 in and weigh approx 66 kg. I need pressure relief for my hips but have found that I sink too much into memory foam-only mattresses. I have tried a pocket-sprung mattress with latex top, which was ok for only a while, but did not maintain an even level. I prefer a double size although I sleep alone, and I think I prefer pocket springs, but would like your recommendation for a topping. Many thanks.

Hello there,

Thank you for your question.

From what you have said regarding the need for pressure relief, and the feel you received from memory foam, I would suggest that you look at a pocket sprung mattress with the correct spring tension and appropriate levels of upholstery to provide the comfort required. With you particular body weight, I would normally recommend a medium feel mattress, but having regard for your need for pressure relief, would guide you towards the Origins Comfort 1000, which is the softer of the Origins range in terms of feel, but will provide the support you require.

John Ryan By Design Origins Comfort
1 750gsm Very Soft Polyester
2 500gsm Polyester Pad
3 One Inch Foam Insulator Layer
4 1000 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

Alternatively, if your budget permits, please view the Artisan Luxury which can be selected with a medium spring tension for the support but the upholstery layers will provide a soft feel allowing you to sink into the mattress for pressure relief.

1 1200 GSM British Fleece Wool and Cotton 600gsm British Fleece Wool
2 Hairproof Cambric Cover 1700gsm Devonshire Fleece Wool
3 1200gsm Pure Horsehair NA
4 500gsm Pure Wool NA
5 1200gsm Pure Horsetail NA
6 500gsm Pure Wool 300gsm Bonded British Fleece Wool and Cotton
7 1476 Calico encased Pocket Springs [51mm] [1.42mm] 1326 Calico encased Pocket Springs [54mm] [1.52mm]

I trust that this helps, but if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to call our office on 0161 437 4419

Kind regards Julie
