A customer asked

hi, I have just started looking for a new divan and have laid on quite a few, it seems that with the ten minutes one lies on the beds that the Harrison Nirvana and the Harrison Paradise fit the bill comfort wise.

£1159 and £1549 respectively.

The background is that my wife has Fybro-myalgia(chronic pain disorder) and weighs 9 1/2 stone, I weight 21 stone and when I sleep my hips hurt and I get a aching back, when I wake up(I sleep on my side) This only occurs when sleeping.

I read with interest that inbuilt toppers wear out quickly, can you recommend a different mattress and seperate topper which is comparable with the beds I have mentioned.

Thanks.

Hi Karl.

Sadly to say there is not one particular mattress that will adequately suit you both as your weight differences are too great. You will have to go down the zip and link route to find the perfect combination of support and comfort to suit you both.

At 21 stone you will need a firm support (about 1.6mm) and your wife will need soft (about 1.3mm). Combining these two kinds of mattress-guide/" title="spring">spring tensions on one mattress is not an option open to us [it has to be soft and med or med and firm].

Your wife's condition requires there to be no undue pressure and so the comfort layers will be her main concern - assume that the soft spring tension will be right for the support. Taking into account your budget I would opt for either The Artisan Naturals as a first choice or The Artisan Tailored Pocket.

I would also factor into your budget the cost of a feather topper - more for your wife to add a further layer of softness.

Hope this helps.

John and Ryan.
