A customer asked

Hi We are thinking of buying a new Ottaman bed but not sure which type of mattress would be suitable. We were thinking of a pocket spring mattress with maybe a latex layer but these seem to be quite heavy, so not sure if they would be ok with the Ottaman?

Thanks Di

Hi Di,

Thank you for your question.

The whole issue as to which mattress to place on your ottoman base depends wholly upon what type of struts the base has on it.

The cheaper bed bases will not have struts strong enough to hold a heavy mattress and you should check with the retailer as to the weights applicable to the base you are purchasing and get confirmation in writing so that if there is a problem later, you can refer to that confirmation.

Our Ottoman Bases can hold a mattress maximum weight of about 85kg so most of the mattresses in our ranges are suitable for our Ottoman bases.

If you are to choose a mattress from ourselves but an ottoman base from another retailer, then as advised above, please check the maximum weight the base can hold.

Once you have clarified this with the retailer, please contact us further on 0161 437 4419 with your body weights, preferred feel and budget whereupon we can recommend the right mattress for you.

Regards Julie
