What pad or cover do you recommend to protect a horse hair mattress?

Thank you for contacting us regard protection of your horsehair mattress.

Mattress protectors are an essential part of keeping your lovely mattress protected from spills and stains to ensure that the life of the mattress is prolonged.

A mattress protector is generally made of cotton or polyester and is quilted and can be purchased either on line or from most High Street Stores.   As you have a natural fibre mattress, you really need to compliment those natural fibres with a cotton protector otherwise polyester will affect the breathability of the mattress.

Another way to protect your mattress is with a good quality mattress topper which is thicker than a mattress protector and would add another layer of comfort if the mattress you have is feeling a tad firm.    However a mattress topper cannot be machine washed unlike a protector which can be washed with your sheets.   We have an excellent video below which I hope you will find informative.
