Very tricky question because you are trying to compare two VERY high end mattresses side by side.

It is pretty much impossible to compare when you don't have the GSM (Grams per Square Metre)

What you have to do now is to compare each individual component part to see where the compromises (if any) are.

If we look at the spring system first: Hastens use a patented 13cm high pocket - I must admit I am not completely au fait with this particular arrangement and surprisingly, little detail is given outside the distribution outlets - I cannot tell for sure whether they are spunbond encased or Calico.

Vi Spring on the other hand utilise traditional hand formed Calico pockets, a preference for me.

The fillings contained should be your next step.

Hastens, in my opinion have the best arrangement of Cotton, Wool and horsehair in sandwich layout.

Weights are not given, but on this particular model it is evident that it is well filled.

Vi Spring Masterpiece has approx 4000GSM fillings which I think is significantly less than Hastens.

If you are UK resident I would also look at Marshall and Stewart' Koh I Noor mattress as a direct comparison to the Hastens model.

In answer to your question: which one would I recommend?

I like the spring system of Vi Spring and the filling arrangement of Hastens.

I also like the integrated comforter of Hastens that replicates the underlying primary layer.

Considering you are looking at extreme high end mattresses like these indicates your budget is of no real consequence.

I would compare them all side by side - in addition to the Savoir No 1 - and start to tick your boxes to see which is more suitable for you.

The mattresses most common to these would be our Artisan range, they are all pocket sprung mattresses with natural fibres. They also include the calico spring unit that Vi=Spring use themselves.
