Hi. Love the site. I'm a bit confused with the weight recommendations. My husband and I are both under 10stone, and it looks like the lightest weight recommendation you have is the Tailored Pocket 1000. You recommend it on the page about the 1500 model, but on the page for the 1000 model, it says it would not be suitable for people under 12stone. What do you recommend for a couple who are 8 1/2 and 9 1/2 stone?

On further searching, I saw where you recommended the Origins Comfort 1000 to a woman who is 9stone and likes a soft bed. In the specs you say that, at 13 stone, you find it feels medium. So I’m still confused but determined to have one of your beds. .

Hi Dawn.

Well spotted, this is a slight error.

Trying to give a weight guideline to individual products is extremely difficult.

We try to establish which product is right for support based on weight but also how the comfort layers will affect the overall tension as well.

There are also other factors to be taken into account as well, such as your own personal preferences, although you both may be light, you personally may prefer a soft marshmallow type comfort but your husband may prefer a firm supportive feel. Please read the article here on whats the best bed to buy.

Light people such as yourselves are just as tricky to accommodate as people of an above average bodyweight.

If the mattress is too much on the firm side you will be balancing on top like a board.

Too soft, the comfort will initially be there but the longevity and how the mattress settles will be problematic.

In cases like yours, you do have a few options to consider.

The first is getting a mattress built precisely for you such as the Artisan range whereby the springs can be tailored to your precise bodyweights as well as having the comfort layers that would be associated with this level of mattress.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The second option which is usually the one where budget is an issue is to buy the mattress that offers the support but adding your own comfort layer in the form of a mattress enhancer / topper.

In the meantime I shall make some quick amendments to the products and place the weight guidelines at the top of each page to save you having to read through all the description before realising it is not suitable.

Thanks for your comment Dawn.

Kind Regards Gary
