Upholstery Layer 1: Blended British Fleece Wool & Cotton gives a soft yet resilient top comfort layer. With high loft it provides a mix of comfort and light support.
Upholstery Layer 2: A hair proof cambric cover helps stop fibres from migrating between layers & will be found in all high-end mattresses.
Upholstery Layer 3: 1250GSM Rebound Polycotton helps with both support and rebound with this mattress.
Upholstery Layer 4: We used 1500GSM Mohair as the insulating layer to add a robust property to the forthcoming layer.

Wow this is the most comfortable bed we have ever had by a million miles. And it feels like it’s going to stay that way. We chose the Artisan Naturals medium tension in a kingsize zip and link (my partner is a restless sleeper). We also chose a new divan base in crushed gold velvet, which is both haptically and visually divine. Luckily for us, we didn’t get to go on holiday last year so this is instead. Great company and great mattress
When we needed a new mattress (we have a slated bed frame which I wanted to keep) I started looking online at reviews and came across John Ryan by Design. I knew I wanted a pocket sprung & ‘natural’ mattress and not one of the newer chemical laden mattresses in a box. I learnt so much from the John Ryan website and reading the reviews on here gave me the confidence to order from them. I ordered an Artisan Naturals (had narrowed my choice down the this and a more expensive mattress but when I rang the company they told me the Artisan would be more suitable for our needs – bonus!). When the mattress arrived 3 weeks later I tried it out before making the bed and thought it was fine, but after the first night I found it a bit hard (just goes to prove lying on the bed in a showroom will not give you the best idea of how comfortable a mattress will be). I had read that the mattress will settle and so I added a wool topper (which I should have had anyway) and have not looked back. After 5 weeks I am very pleased with the mattress and would highly recommend the company.
