The firmness of the mattress you desire is determined by a few factors. Your weight and height, and the mattress of your choice. The upholstery layers are the very top comfort layers and give different degrees of firmness alongside the spring unit. The higher up in the list the mattress is, the firmer it will be in the top upholstery layers. The lower down the list, the softer the initial upholstery layers will feel.
Our Latex Mattresses are ideal for sleepers looking for progressive support or those who have been used to a moulding foam mattress before. This range will allow a slow sink into the mattress but progressive enough to allow ease of movement, unlike memory foam. This mattress has a firmer feel.
This is a one-sided mattress, primarily for sleepers who are sensitive to tufts. Whilst we don’t usually advocate one-sided mattresses, especially when retailers are selling them for high-end prices, the construction method of this model shows how to do it. Using high-grade Talalay Latex which is both highly responsive and resilient, it overcomes the usual issues experienced with synthetic one-sided mattresses.
First Layer: One inch HD Foam: directly on top of the spring unit (as the insulator). This is a more forgiving component which moves with the spring unit.
Second Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex:
Third Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex: Having two layers of latex is fundamentally better than using one layer of 6cm depth.
Fourth Layer: 300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad: directly beneath the fabric which gives a slight cushion on top of the latex.
The surface is micro-quilted with a soft knit fabric providing a flat and comfortable sleep surface. Giving the top side a soft feel. The mattress features machine-stitched handles and is also detailed with three rows of machine side stitching.

I’ve owned this mattress for almost 9 years now (during which it’s endured 4 house moves!), and I still find it heavenly. The only wear on the mattress is some minor fraying of the top layer of fabric. In terms of comfort, I don’t feel as though it has deteriorated at all.
I am currently recommending John Ryan (and potentially this model of mattress) to a friend that has just bought his first house, and when the time does come that I need a new one, I will without doubt be returning here too.

Omg we loveeeeee our new mattress, it feels like it is made for our body and combined weight and height. I never knew how bad our previous mattress was till I got our new mattress which was soo hard and gave us bad pain. It was so hard that I would wake up in the middle of the nights.
