Hi , we like the Visprung Herald with a medium and a firm side when we tried in the shop. However the mattress was on a sprung divan , we would be using a bedstead with slatted base and plywood covering that. I understand the Artisan Bespoke is similar. What levels of firmness would you recommend if one of us is 15st and the other 11 stone? Thank you.

You are quite right in thinking that the <a href="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/product/artisan-bespoke/">Artisan Bespoke</a> mattress feels very similar to the Vi-spring Herald you tried and liked. As you are going to be using a slatted bedstead, we say you only need to cover the slats with <a href="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/mattresses-for-slats-3/">plywood or MDF</a>, if the gaps between the slats are more than 3" apart, if not you could just place an old, or cheap duvet on top of the slats, to create a layer of protection, and stop some of the indentations that would be created by the gaps in the slats. <img src="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Bespoke%200001-1200x800.jpg" alt="Artisan Bespoke mattress" width="953" height="635" />One thing to note is that any <a href="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/mattress-bases-explained/">type of base</a>, other than a sprung <a class="wpil_keyword_link" href="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/product-category/bases/" title="divan">divan</a>, will give a mattress a firmer feel in the <a class="wpil_keyword_link" href="https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/pocket-spring-mattress-guide/" title="spring">spring</a> tension within the mattress. When you turn over in bed does a pocket sprung mattress make a noise on a divan bed

Hi JuneWith a good pocket spring unit, in a well-upholstered mattress, you shouldn't hear any noise when you turn over in bed. Have you checked that it isn't the divan base that is creaking, you don't mention in your comment if the mattress and base are both new, or have you had them a while, as joints in divan bases can loosen over time and sometimes creak as they get older. I am very interested in the Double Artisan 1500 mattress and base but before making a decision would like your comments on which spring tension would be the best for myself and my husband?
