Hypnos Natural Comfort Maple Superb and John Ryan equivalent?
Unusually for Hypnos mattresses, more detailed information of composition and gsm for this particular mattress is available in the public domain. Available in firm or medium tension, it is described as having a 3-zone UltraSens™ spring system with ReActive™ 14-turn pocket springs (not further specified) with the following upholstery: 2800 gsm wool (not further specified), 800 gsm wool & cashmere blend (not further specified) and 2000 gsm horsetail, with 3 rows of hand side-stitching, and the following further features: hand-tufted; Belgian damask cover; flag-stitched handles; chrome air vents; turnable. This seems, having read much of your website, to represent a reasonable mid-range mattress with appropriate materials; RRP is £1350. Since it appears to be fully turnable in both planes, it offers the promise of reasonable longevity. Am I missing any obvious drawbacks and what would be your nearest in-house John Ryan equivalent?

As you say, it is very unusual for Hypnos to disclose the GSM in any product and we have looked at this product with some interest.
The spring-mechanics-2/”>ReActive spring unit is trade marked and we cannot be certain of how this will react with different body weights, as our springs have any industry norm of six turns.
In terms of the GSM, whilst we do have a mattress with a slightly less overall GSM, the Artisan Bespoke, we would suggest that such levels of upholstery in a mattress of 28cm depth, are likely to provide a more firm than medium feel.
Horse tail and horse hair are expensive components to include in a mattress and we are surprised at the RRP of the Hypnos product, but do note that this appears to be for a single size.

As far as longevity is concerned, we note that they offer a 10 year guarantee with this product, which must count for something, although we would suggest reading the guarantee to make sure you are fully aware of any restrictions.
It is difficult to suggest an appropriate model from our ranges, including the Bespoke, without knowledge of your body weight and preferred feel, although we assume it is towards firm as you have viewed the Hypnos product. All our Artisan models have hand side stitching, with the Bespoke having 3 rows similar to the Hypnos and is fully turnable.
