Laura Ashley comparisons?

Rachel asked

What a fab website – I hope you can help me!

In the last 6 months I have been through a Sleeproom/Loaf firm mattress, which sounds like the biz on the website but was like a board (not nearly enough softness on the top), now an M&S 1250 Natural Collection in medium which is lovely and soft on top but is much too springy (I went too far the other way!), and another purchasing error will surely lead to divorce and no need for a Superking mattress at all!

I just want something which is firm, so that we can’t feel each others movements too much, but nice and soft on top. We used to have a Hypnos Silver and that was perfect but then we upsized to a Superking and I can’t find it any more, unless there is something similar you would recommend. I see that Laura Ashley currently has a really good sale on its mattresses (60% off) – was thinking of the Eversham – but its impossible to test them because all they have in store is a square of about 0.5m square. Do you know if they are any good, how firm etc. It sounds pretty good with lambswool, silk etc but I don’t want to end up with soft springs again. Any advice welcomed!

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your question and kind words regarding the website.

Having had a look at this product it is a one sided mattress; Something we always advise against. The reason for this is that one side mattresses can’t be turned meaning that you can’t evenly distribute any wear and tear across the other surface subsequently meaning that the lifetime of the product is instantly reduced.

As such we’d always recommend a fully turnable mattress as this gives you the option to not only rotate the mattress but flip it over allowing even distribution of any wear and tear but also even settlement of all the fillings in the mattress.

I’d recommend that you have a look in our Artisan range of products. This range of mattresses are traditional pocket sprung mattresses with a differing percentage of natural fillings in the construction. Those natural fillings provide a cool sleep surface; Ideal for anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper. Not only that but natural fillings have longer lifespans; An instant benefit I’m sure you’ll agree.

We would need to know your body weights to discuss suitability but I would at this stage guide you to our Artisan Naturals or Artisan Luxury models. The Naturals is a true medium in the top layers providing a slight sink but not too much and is constructed with 85% natural fillings. The Luxury is our softest model in the top  layers providing a luxurious sink into that top layer and is constructed with a full 100% natural fillings.

Alternatively, if you have any queries about the Eversham we’d always advise to speak to the retailer direct as they are better equipped to discuss the suitability of their own products.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kindest Regards, Lee.
