Is it worth spending a lot of money on a mattress only to cover it with a topper as the topper is not of the same quality as the mattress would it not be wasted money?

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The selection of a mattress is dependent upon a number of factors, your body weight(s), preferred feel and budget. The body weight will dictate the spring tension and the preferred feel will lead you to the right upholstery and of course, budget is self explanatory, although we would advocate spending as much as you can on a quality mattress. If you get all these factors right at the outset, there should not be a need for a mattress topper.

With a new mattress, we would suggest using it for at least 28 days before deciding upon whether a topper is necessary, otherwise if you buy one at the same time as your new mattress, it may turn out to be an unnecessary expense. If you do opt for a topper, we would suggest going for a material similar to the upholstery in your mattress.

We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind Regards.
