We suffer aches and pains, PMR in my case, Arthritis for my hubby
Our most comfortable sleeps have been on Cunard and P&O cruises so that is the sort of thing we are hoping for in a new mattress. Read nearly all your advice and understand that you don’t make pillow-top mattresses, and the reasons why. That’s fine. Our current mattress is a VERY old Slumberland Porsturestore PS700 and a change is long overdue. The bed base is slats. WOne of us is 5’5″ and weighs 80K and the other is 6’2″ and weighs about 92K. We both sleep on our sides mainly, but do change position frequently and sometimes end up on front or back. I sit in bed and read for at least an hour, and sometimes longer. We both suffer from aches and pains caused by PMR in my case and Arthritis for my husband. Our budget is £600 – £800. We have narrowed it down to the Origins Pocket 1500 but would like confirmation that we are looking at the right one for us.

Thank you for your enquiry. The Origins Pocket 1500 would be a suitable choice. It has a medium spring tension as standard which would give you both the correct level of support. The medium feel upholstery of this mattress means it should not be too firm for sleeping on your side but not too soft when sleeping on your front or back.
We do not recommend pillowtop mattresses, mainly due to them being one-sided, which means you can not prolong the lifespan of the mattress by turning it over. When the top fails, as they invariably do, you then have to change your complete mattress. You can get the same feel with a separate topper which can be replaced as necessary and still prolong the longevity of your mattress with the proper care and maintenance.
