Restless Sleeper

Margaret Wheatland asked

Which mattress from your range do you recommend for a metal bed frame with slatted sprung slats? I will be putting mdf on as you suggest on your qs and as..I need a king size mattress that will be suitable for a restless sleeper. My husband is not.We are 12 stone average height but I have shoulder problems, and wake up very stiff, our current bed is an old Vi Spring Herald but sadly has had its day, My son bought us the bed frame and I would love to use it.we both lay on our sides and backs.
Many Thanks.

Hi Margaret,

Thank you for your enquiry.

With your particular body weights we would recommend a medium tension/feel mattress.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

If your previous mattress was a Vi-Spring, you no doubt prefer natural upholstery. We do have a number of models in our Artisan range which are similar to some Vi-Spring models in terms of overall feel and we have attached a comparison schedule here, for your consideration.

Notwithstanding the comparisons, please view the Artisan Naturals or Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both of which have natural upholstery.

The Naturals has 85% and the 004 has 100%. Both can be used on the slatted bed frame, however, we would advocate placing a barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF between the mattress and the slats.

This will provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats. It will also prevent a ridge or bulge occurring in the centre of the mattress where the central support is for the slats.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind Regards Gary
