TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Split tension Vispring mattress

Dear John, Ryan Your site is very informative and I appreciate the huge effort involved in managing it, replying to potential and existing customers and so forth. I recently purchased a Seba superking bed from Lombok, with the following dimensions: W: 193cm x D: 224cm x H: 107cm http://www.lombok.co.uk/Seba-Light-Teak-Bed-PBEDSEBALIGHT/ I believe the slightly longer length takes account of the curved headboard. I like the look of the bed frame though I am not sure if I have done the right thing (it has not been delivered yet) as I may be moving in the future and don’t know in advance if I will have enough space. I also wonder whether a sprung base makes a huge difference in comfort levels compared to a slatted base on this bed. Aside from these concerns, I am interested in buying two single mattresses, probably zip and link, if you think they will fit this frame given your comments on this. I agree with your views that having two single mattresses would make it much easier to transport the bed than a superking size and it would also be also easier manoeuvring it into my bedroom space which is located on a lower ground floor. In an ideal world I would like to buy a mattress of Vispring quality and note you can provide something fairly similar, I gather this is called the Artisan range, bespoke or naturals, not sure which?

In this regard, I would appreciate a price for the above. I was thinking of one mattress at a soft tension and the second, medium, as suggested by the ViSpring guide. Just one aside here there seems to be a fair bit of polycotton in the filling – is it possible to change this to a natural one?

I realise this will involve an additional charge so of course it depends on how much extra. My aim is to buy the best I can and would like to have something for longer than 10 years, more like 20 if that doesn’t sound ridiculous?

Thanks Carmel .

Hi Carmel.

Thanks for your question.

A sprung edge base does indeed make a difference to the overall feel of a mattress.

Consider it as your mattress on top of another (simplistic explanation I know).

However, I personally favour a bedframe for design reasons and no other.

On the other hand, a well built divan base correctly dressed can make a room look absolutely luxurious.

Sprung Edged Divan Bases are relative to the mattress – for example, the bases we supply with our Artisan models are extremely well made, and beautifully finished (testament to the weight).

The bases we supply with our Origins are platform top, this is in keeping with a customers budget and of course more build quality is in the mattress.

The bedframe you are looking at is not oversized at all, It is only 24cm longer (although this seems to be rather long than the image would show !!) than an equivalent SKS Divan base.

In any event, a standard kingsize has the same length of 6’6.

Your mattresses would idealy be zipped and linked.

Moreso if you are considering moving.

It really is a struggle manhandling such a big one piece mattress.

You may find that a one piece SKS topper will add protection and additional comfort in order to conceal the fact that they are zip linked.

We offer two mattresses Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke.

The Artisan Naturals is built as being the best mattress you can get for this particular price.

The Bespoke is in another world.

For the price you just cannot get better.

Our comparison to the Vi Spring Herald Superb is to show you that for the retail price of £3020 (RRP Kingsize mattress Furniture Village June 2018) we can give you a mattress that has more upholstery for less money.

Our 10 year guarantee on this model is the absolute minimum this should last.

I would expect with care you will indeed get many years more of comfortable sleeps from this.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

I thoroughly understand the concerns our potential customers have about spending around £2000 online on a mattress they have neither seen or tried.

I can justify and testify the quality of all the components used in the build of The Bespoke and if your only other choice is Vi Spring at a larger price – for considerably less fillings in quantity and quality – then I do not know what else to say.

Kind Regards Gary
