What depth memory foam topper?

Mandy asked

Hi John and Ryan Just would like to ask your advice.I want to buy a MF topper for my pocket sprung mattress. I would like to go for a 60kg density but wonder whether to get 5cm or 7.5 cm depth. I have previuosly used this sprung mattress with a layer of 5cm foam on top which was sold to me as memory foam 5 years ago but i think it is probably just foam as it doesnt sink or spring back but has been very comfortable anyway but we need a bigger size now. I am 10.7 stone and my hubby is 12.7 stone Which do you think will be more comfortable, 5cm or 7.5 cm?

Many Thanks Mandy

Hi Mandy,

Thank you for your question.

Comfort is very subjective so we cannot say which is most comfortable as it depends what you want!

What I can say, is that a 7.5cm memory foam topper will have a deeper sink sensation than a 5cm one.  So it depends on the sensation you’re looking for.

Memory foam offers that slow sink feel but if you want something that returns to its original shape faster maybe a laygel hybrid foam or even a latex topper maybe a better option for you. Hybrid foams are a more advanced version of memory foam.

Based on your weights a 60kg topper would offer a soft sink for your mattress or a 70kg latex would offer a medium feel topper with a more rapid rebound rate.

I hope the above is of assistance to you but please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
