Which type of mattress?
Hi,
I need some help choosing a mattress type and I’ve just requested a brochure from you. I am interested in the bespoke 002 and 004.
Currently, have a slatted Ercol Kingsize bedframe. When I viewed Vispring the store assistant said due to the size of the springs, we would need to have an additional spring support or choose a mattress that would not need this. would you advise if this is an issue, and what the difference is to the feel of the bed if it is on a slatted frame rather than a sprung divan?
I liked the Vi Spring Tiara. My husband who sleeps on his side prefers firm springs and feel to the top. I sleep mainly on my front and prefer medium to firm spring feel to the top.
We get hot and this is heightened if I sink too much into the fabric of the bed. Also, I have lower back problems. I note we can have a split bed, but when someone says firm or medium, it is hard to know what this in reality means, so any advice on this would be helpful.

Thanks for your question.
I’m not too sure why you have been advised that.
When using the Ercol kingsize bed frame with a pocket sprung mattress, you should board over the slats with a thin layer of MDF/PLY. This will create a uniform platform and allow the mattress to naturally settle far more efficiently and perform to the best of its ability comfort wise.
Body weight determines the overall firmness of the springs that you and your husband will require, as shown in the table below.

Personal preference/ sleeping habits will determine the overall mattress model (as they all offer different levels of firmness in the comfort layer)
So with you being a predominant front sleeper, I would always advise going for something a little firmer in the comfort layers because this will support the arch of you back adequately. Have a look at the Artisan Bespoke.
Depending on your husbands body weight this may also be suitable for him. I would only recommend a firm spring for someone who is 17 stone or above. As your husband has a preference for a firmer feel you should look for this in the upper layers with the right support based on his body weight in the spring tension. I think these may be more suited to your preferences than the 004 and the 002.

With you being a warm sleeper, I would always advise going for as high a natural fibre count as possible as these mattresses will not then retain heat as much as their synthetic equivalents.
