Number of pocket springs in a mattress?

Clive asked
27th January 2016

According to your size selector, the mattress contains the same number of springs whether it’s a single or super king (e.g. 1600 springs in an Artisan Naturals mattress whichever size you choose). Is this not misleading or am I missing something?

Hi Clive,

Thank you for your question.

The description of any mattress, whether ours or another manufacturer, uses the standard number of springs in a king size as a guide and is not intended to be misleading. The spring count is reduced or increased accordingly dependent upon size. To clarify, a single Artisan Naturals has 920 springs, whereas the super king contains 1974 springs.

The minimum amount of pocket springs you will find in a kingsize mattress is 600.

The maximum number of pocket springs in a kingsize mattress is 2,000.

Anything higher than this will either be a dual-layer such as our Artisan Bespoke 002 or will use Micro springs. We would urge people to be careful when choosing micro springs as they are often used to simply hyperinflate the spring count even though there’s very little benefit to them.
