Artisan 1500 questions to replace memory foam

Hi I have been trying to research the best type of mattress to purchase and have found your website the best for information, however, I'm still unsure. Unfortunately I am unable to phone during work time so apologies for resorting to email. I am wondering if the Artisan 1500 would be a suitable mattress. I am 13 stone (5ft5) and husband is 11 stone (5ft10). Our present mattress is shot (15 year old) and I have a memory foam topper which I find too hot and I still find my hips and shoulder painful after a nights sleep, I'm resorting to using a duvet to lie on as well to try and alleviate the pressure, definitely time for a new mattress. It is a solid divan base and I think the mattress was originally a firm one - I think I need a softer one now given the memory foam and duvet I sleep on to try and make it feel softer. I am a side sleeper and husband a back sleeper. Would this be the right type of mattress and would my present base be suitable or should I go for the one you do to match the mattress?

Hi Mel,

Thank you for your enquiry. I think the reason for your current discomfort is that your current mattress, albeit 15 years old, is a firm one and for your body weights this is not a tension we would advise. The Artisan 1500, which has 53% naturals fibres, can be used on your existing base and can be supplied with a medium spring tension, which would suit both.  This mattress is on the firmer end of the medium scale in the upholstery layers.

As a side sleeper, I would recommend more of a medium feel in the mattress, such as the Artisan Naturals which has 85% natural fibres. This would still feel supportive for your husband who sleeps on his back but would have more give for you.

I hope this was helpful, if you would like to discuss the suitability of either mattress please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
