Kingsize zip and link origins pocket help

A customer asked

I am in need of a Kingsize Ziplink and been considering the Origins Pocket 1500.
Question is regarding the base of the bed, which is a solid pine slatted base which is not sprung. The slats are 14cm wide with gaps between varying from 1cm to 6cm.
Do I need to butt the slats up together (they have 3 cm holes in - I recall when I bought current mattress this was meant to offer ventilation) or will things be okay as they are.

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your enquiry via our website.  We always advocate that you place some form of barrier between a mattress and slatted bases. This can take the form of either MDF or pegboard for slats with gaps of more than 6cm, but for your base, I would suggest you move the slats so that the gap is uniform and around 3cm in which case an old duvet will provide the necessary protection for the mattress whilst still allowing it to breathe. There is no need to butt up the slats provided that you use the barrier as mentioned earlier.

Origins Pocket spring 1500 mattress

The Origins Pocket 1500 has a medium spring tension and is a medium in the comfort layers, giving a slight sink in feel but not too much. I would need to know your body weight(s) to determine if this mattress is suitable for your requirements.  All of our mattresses are available in the zip and link option in king size and above.

I trust that this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
