Please bring out that mattress suspension pad ASAP!
As an American person used to sleeping on mattress/box-spring combos, it's been a long process getting used to English beds. Our expensive Vi-Spring mattress on a slatted (non-sprung) base feels like a bag of sand. A £1500 bag of sand... and NOW I KNOW WHY. Thank you so much for this informative post, but what can I do in the meantime? We can't afford to replace the bed or mattress, but we're desperate to find some solution to our uncomfortable bed. Would it be possible to put a sprung divan base on top of our bedstead (to act like a box spring)?

If you’re finding issue with a slatted base, then the only real alternative is to replace the slatted base with a sprung edge base.
Trying to manufacture a divan base to fit within the bedstead would be classed as a bespoke made item, please read the following article on made to measure items.
We have stopped developing the mattress suspension pads as it seemed to be impossible find a suitable design that works for this purpose.
