Single size mattress

Jes

I've heard that getting an equivalent bed in the single size makes it more firm than the larger sizes. Is this true? And how much do I need to take this into consideration? I've tried showroom Tempur cloud double size, hurt my lower back within seconds every time I tried it, so I'm guessing it's not supportive enough.
Thought I was looking into getting a latex, but now stumbled across comments and flicked through your artisan range ... And sounds sweet but looks overwhelmingly complicated ie how on earth would I choose.
I must say how unfortunate it is that you don't just have at least 1 showroom in the UK; I would travel 5 hrs just to come and try a few, make it a day out. You could open a centrally located one, just a suggestion for the future, doesn't help me now of course! Lol.
I'm a bit lost now, feel like I'm back to square one. Been investigating for a few days now.
Hope to hear from you.
G'day

Hi again Jes,

Thank you for your question.

The number of springs detailed in most mattress descriptions relate to the total within a king size product. They are proportionally less or more if you go down or up in size, it does not necessarily follow that going from a king size to a single will make the product firmer, as this will depend upon the spring tension opted for and the upholstery layers in pocket sprung mattresses. Latex is the same feel, whatever size you opt for.

pocket sprung mattress does not need to be overly expensive. In many cases, they are more cost-effective than a comparable open coil unit and in real terms, they are cheaper now than they were many years ago. Bear in mind though that the bulk of pocket sprung mattresses are now mass produced. The ultimate pocket spring is calico encased, used by the likes of Vi-Spring and Savoir beds (our Artisan Range is an ideal Vi-Spring alternative). We can’t think of any other manufacturer who uses calico encased pocket springs, but there will be less than five manufacturers in this country who do so.

It is difficult to recommend a specific product from our Artisan range (natural upholstery layers) without knowledge of your body weight, so I would suggest that you call our office on 0161 437 4419 to provide this information and obtain specific advice as to the most suitable product from our ranges.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

We look forward to speaking to you in due course.

Kind regards Julie
