Flame retardants

Please could you let me know which flame retardant and other chemicals are used in you Artisan luxury mattresses. I need to minimise the risk as I have poor mitochondrial function and difficulty detoxifying formaldehyde & VOCs so am looking for a bed which is as free as possible from chemicals, but also firm & comfortable. I did try an Abaca organic Ramsey latex mattress un found it far too firm.

Hi Isobel,

Thank you for your enquiry.

In terms of the upholstery, there are no flame retardants used as wool is naturally retardant, however the cover of the mattress is treated with a phosphorous/nitrogen chemical retardant. The Artisan Luxury has the softest upholstery layers of all the products in the Artisan range, however, we are unable to confirm that this would be suitable for you without knowledge of your body weight(s), as this will determine the spring tension required.
