Bed Topper?
Hi, I have a 8 year old VI Spring Herald Supreme soft tension king size mattress and divan. I like the bed but I'm wondering if one of your mattress toppers would make it even better. I"m 174cm tall and weigh 74kg. I like the feel of some foam mattresses I've tried in shops but I'm worried about overheating.
Also, would putting a topper on the bed mean I stop getting the benefits from the nice natural materials used in the mattress?
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Mattress toppers are used primarily to provide an extra comfort layer and to provide a softer feel on a mattress which may be feeling too firm. When choosing a topper, we would suggest getting the best results, you ought to look to replicate the materials used in the upholstery of your mattress and would not normally pair a latex or foam products with a naturally upholstered mattress.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
At your particular body weight we would not have recommended a soft spring tension and if you are already on a soft mattress, applying a further softer layer is not likely to feel right. Mattress toppers cannot be used to make a mattress feel firmer and if this is what is required, it may be worth placing some thin (3-5mm) MDF boarding on top of your base.
We trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance please call our office on 016 945 3757 and speak with one of our advisors.
Kind Regards.
