Type of mattress for my son

My 16 year old son needs a new mattress. We have an Artisan Naturals Kingsize and we love it but he doesn't like the "sheep" smell of our mattress. I did a lot of research before we bought our mattress so my initial search was obviously for you again. However, a friend recommended a Simba reconditioned mattress via ebay for him as it's cheap and got great reviews but I don't want to buy a cheap mattress that will only last 6 months and then have to replace with a proper one! What would you recommend for a slatted single bed?

Thanks for your question.
I would advise to have a look at the Artisan 1500. This is a medium feeling model in the top layers, not a world apart from your current Artisan Naturals.
The difference here is that the 1500 is constructed with 50 / 50 natural and synthetic fillings that should reduce the farm yard smell.
We would need to know his body weight to discuss suitable spring tension but an average body weight is usually fine on a Medium spring tension.
