How to prevent natural fibre mattress from Bed bugs
We bought a natural fibre mattress from you a year ago and have been delighted with it,
Now we are reading about the spread of bed bugs and are wondering if there is anything we should be doing to protect it. Can you advise?
Hi Janet,
Thanks for contacting us regarding bed bugs which are very much in the news at the moment and the UK is facing an epidemic of these pests.
If you have a natural fibre mattress and need to prevent any bed bug infestation, the only way to deal with this is to place your mattress in to a mattress encasement which unlike a mattress protector, completely seals the mattress inside. These encasements only work if you do not already have a bed bug infestation.
Bed bugs live in and around tufts on the mattress and the piping area around the mattress and you will know if you have these pests as they leave tiny brown scales. They also live in and around headboards and bases so it is really important to check these areas and if you notice any thing like this, you would need to get treatment as fast as possible. It is also advisable to contact a Pest Control Company who will be able to provide a survey to see if in fact you do have bed bugs in the property.
I hope this assists but if you do have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards Julie
