A customer asked

I have many allergies to chemicals and really want to buy a mattress made from natural fibres like your Artisan Natural. I have previously had bad headaches from off gassing from a memory foam mattress. Are natural mattresses sprayed with fire resistant chemicals or are they just natural?

I have seen a wool mattress that claims to be chemical free but was wondering about others. >

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for your question.

In regards to our own products our Fusion range (100% Natural Latex) as well as our Artisan range (Pocket Sprung with Natural Fibres) are treated with Phosphorous and Nitrogen as standard.

All mattresses need to be treated with Fire Retardants as standard as part of UK Guidelines.

Off gassing can occur with these products but this will of course depend on the sensitivity to chemicals as this will differ from person to person.

Please browse the article here at your earliest convenience for further information on Fire Retardants.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419. Our office is open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
