Choice of Artisan Mattress

I am looking for a a new kingsize mattress and base and have been looking at your Artisan range. We are approx 11st and 14st, both sleep on our front and prefer a medium to firm feel (definitely not soggy, but not very firm either!). I am assuming we would be best suited to a medium spring option, but am not sure about the comfort later. I am not too worried about cost. From what I can see the Artisan Luxury would likely be too soft? That leaves the Bespoke, 002 and 004. The Bespoke is the firmest, but I am not sure whether it would be too firm? Regarding the 002 an 004, if these are similar in terms of firmness, is there much difference in the feel? Also, can you confirm whether the height of the Artisan base and the Ottoman are similar and would there be much difference in feel when used with the above mattresses? Overall height is a bit of an issue and if one were lower than the other than may be an advantage. I assume all the artisan mattress are about the same height? Many thanks

Hi Rob,

With your particular body weights I would concur with your assertion that a medium spring tension would be best.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

This will provide the appropriate support and in order to meet your requirements, we need then to look at the upholstery layers.

Of the three Bespoke models, the Bespoke is the one with the firmest feel in the upholstery layers, the 002 has a double layer of springs making the whole feel a bit more responsive, which leaves the 004, which the one with the upholstery which would provide the comfort you are looking for without that soggy feeling.

As far as the base is concerned, there is very little difference in height between a divan base with 4 drawers and a standard ottoman (15-15.5 inches), although the ottoman does have the greater storage area.

The ottoman base is a platform top and this is likely to make any mattress placed upon it feel slightly firmer, but not too firm.

The base and mattress combination is likely to be 27-27.5 inches. The divan base can be made lower, but this may mean that drawers are not an option.

I trust that this helps, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards Gary
