Mattress for different weights and both prefer medium-firm feel

Hi,
We currently have a Double-sized Ikea bed frame with unsprung slats (now loose), and an Ikea mattress that has now collapsed!
So, we are looking for our first proper bed, and have decided to increase to King size. Due to storage restrictions within the bedroom, we are considering a full ottoman base. My wife is 8 stone 9, and 5' 1"; I am 10 stone 10, and 5' 8.5". We liked the medium/firm Burnham 1600 mattress we recently tried in Dreams, but were put off by a blatant trick of the trade: the 50% sale discount ends in two days, but was available at the discount price a year ago!
Could you make recommendations from your range that would meet our physical requirements, and would work on your full ottoman base? In particular, I am wondering if our weights are similar enough that a non-split mattress would be suitable? I would also appreciate a recommendation from the Origins range (if suitable), plus one from the more up-market ranges.
Finally, thank you for all the information and guidance you provide - I have found it very honest and useful, ahead of making a significant purchase that will hopefully last many years.
Thanks,
Vince.

Hi Vince,

Thank you for your enquiry and your compliments in respect of the content of our site.

With your particular body weights we would suggest that, if you wish to avoid a split tension, you ought to look at a medium spring tension/feel mattress, although having said that your wife is borderline soft. Please view the Origins Pocket 1500, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with man made upholstery providing an overall medium feel. At just under 9st, your wife may feel the need to apply a topper to this mattress to provide the right feel for her. Alternatively, in the same range you could view the Origins Comfort 1000, which again has the medium tension spring unit, but has softer man made upholstery.

Alternatively, if you prefer natural upholstery, we would suggest viewing the Artisan Naturals, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has 85% natural upholstery proving an overall medium feel. This mattress and the Origins Pocket 1500 are the best selling products in their respective ranges as detailed at the foot of this response. all the mattresses referred to herein can be used on our ottoman base.
