Will your zip and link mattresses be ok on our slat based bed ?

We have a king size metal bedframe with two sets of sprung beech slats on either side of a central bar. Will your zip and link mattresses work well on this? I notice that you show them only on divan bases.
I weigh just under 7 stone (5' 1'') and my husband weighs around 12 stone (6'2''); will your softest pocket sprung zip and link mattresses be the best option, so as to be comfortable and minimise the amount we disturb each other by moving?

Good Afternoon J Hales,

Thanks for your question.

Zip and Link mattresses are ideal for a number of reasons; The main reasons we find for purchases of Zip and Link's is where a one piece mattress won't fit into the property, where you may struggle to flip and rotate a one piece mattress or where one user tends to disturb the other.

As you end up with 2 completely independent mattresses you cannot transfer movement between the springs of each individual mattress.

We advise that our Origins or Artisan range of mattresses can go on to a slatted base as long as the gaps are no bigger than 3" otherwise the mattresses will attempt to settle in those gaps and cause indentation and damage. As such if you measured the gaps and they were bigger than 3" then you'd simply need to buy some standard sheets of MDF, plywood or pegboard to solidify the surface.

At your body weights you would need a dual tension mattress; One half would need to be soft for you and the other medium for your husband. This will give you the right levels of support independently. We would then need to know how you prefer your mattress to feel in the top layers to discuss suitability as we have soft, medium and firm feeling mattresses.

Our Artisan range has the benefit of natural fillings in the construction and those fillings provide a cool sleep surface; Ideal for anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper.
