Hi Terry,

Thank you for contacting us regarding a new mattress and understand that you have a couple of medical conditions which need to be taken into account such as Vertigo and post nasal drip.

There are also a number of factors which we need to be take into account in order for us to recommend a suitable mattress such as the body weights and heights of whoever will be sleeping on the mattress, types of mattresses that you have been sleeping on together with the type of base the mattress will go onto as this can also affect the overall feel of a mattress.

Vertigo

It is advised that if you suffer from vertigo that you need to sleep with your head elevated by at least 45 degrees.   An elevated pillow such as a wedge pillow can help with the symptoms of vertigo and the NHS backs this up and recommends sleeping with two or more pillows.

As you will be aware, it is also important that you keep movements as slow as possible minimizing head movement when lying down or getting out of bed.

Post Nasal Drip

As you are also suffering from post nasal drip, this can also disturb your sleep and cause discomfort.

There are a number of factors which also need to be taken into account which you may already be aware of such as keeping the bedroom clean and free from dust.

Your sleeping position should also be taken into account and the best sleeping position for this condition is actually your side and it is important that you choose a side and maintain that side through the night as tossing and turning from one side to the other can interrupt your sleep routine.

When choosing a new mattress you need to ensure that you not only receive the correct level of support but also the correct level of comfort.

Support is provided by the internal spring unit and is based upon heights and weights whereas comfort is provided by the upholstery fillings which are on top of the spring unit and is usually dictated by your sleeping positions.    A side sleeper would require either soft or medium comfort, a back sleeper would require something more medium and a front sleeper would require something slightly firmer.   If you have a partner, their individual needs also need to be taken into account.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

As we require specific information from you in order to recommend the correct mattress for your requirements, it would be preferable for you to telephone our office and speak with one of our friendly team on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie Collier
