A firm mattress, like the Staples Eleanor?

You guys and your informative website are enlightening!

So glad I came across it, almost read the whole site learning about the industry. I'd like your personal recommendation please. We are both 70-75kg but being Japanese prefer firmer mattresses (used to sleeping on futons etc). Tried out so many kings in the shops, each shop has at least 1 we like and many more we don't. One that seems to like us is the Staples Eleanor which can be chosen as a firm option & has side stiching - we really put emphasis on the edge quality as much as the overall mattress. Ignoring the inflated shop prices it's online price is around £475 and our ideal budget is £400 but I want to spend my money with you. Your Origins 1000 Reflex, with it's firmer support than the comfort, sounds like it might be a good comparison and would love to hear your take. But we've also been hoodwinked into 1200, 1400 up to 2000 springs. They certainly feel firmer to us the more springs there are, but would your Origins 1500 feel softer to us against your 1000 Reflex?

Thanks for your time, Darsuke. .

Hi Darsuke.

Your budget would norrmally be the stumbling block for you.

£400 really is a low price to pay unless you just want a so called bag of springs.

Our Origins Comfort (£345: Double) and Origins Reflex (£375: Double) is the lowest standard Ryan and I are prepared to put our name to.

The Origins Comfort for you would be too soft.

The Origins Reflex would be satisfactory although the ideal one for you - just £30 more than The Eleanor would be The Sequence Suspension [£495: Double].

Origins Reflex
1 750gsm Very soft Polyester
2 One inch reflex foam layer
3 270gsm Polyester
4 One inch reflex foam layer
5 1000 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

The Origins 1500 / 2000 would be supportive enough but I feel too soft (comforting) for you.

Hope this helps and as always, please feel free to call us if you require more information.

John and Ryan.
