Hi Denise,

Thank you for your enquiry.

When advising upon a new mattress we take into account body weight, preferred feel and budget. The primary consideration is body weight as this is an indication as to what spring tension/feel should be selected. In your particular case, as you are very lightweight, a soft spring is the most appropriate and we would suggest that, if your aches and pains occur after sleeping on your current mattress, then it is likely to be too firm for you. There are mattresses on the market, which have 12000 and 14000 springs in them and this is achieved by including layers of mini springs in addition to the standard sized ones. These layers of mini springs take the place of layers of upholstery and we are not convinced that they actually bring anything to the table in terms of overall comfort.

Under normal circumstances and taking average body weights, 1000 springs in a king size mattress should be sufficient to provide the support needed. The comfort would then come from the upholstery contained in the mattress. We have two ranges, that may provide the softness required by your lightweight and they are the Origins Comfort 1000, which has synthetic upholstery and the Artisan Luxury, which contains natural upholstery. The Comfort has a fixed spring tension but has soft upholstery layers whereas the Luxury can have a soft spring tension selected and comes with soft natural upholstery to enhance the overall feel.

We trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419, kind regards.
