Bensons bed dipping

A customer asked

We have had a nightmare with a Bensons double matress, which cost a £1000, and which within three days of use, developed excessive accelerated setteling, which was measured after a month use of 3cm in places, further three months on we are up to 5cm, we are in negotiation with Bensons for a full refund, they have acknowledge that the bed is unsuitable for our needs, but insist due to an fira independent report that the bed had no fault. The mattress is their opulence, range, and comes complete with built in mattress topper. It cannot be turned due to the mattress topper and I beleive the mattress composition is therefore flawed. However, we do need to replace this quickly as the bed give absolutely no support. The bed is like a sack !

Normally I prefer a very firm matress, and I am approximately 10 stone, my husband is approximately 13 stone, we don't consider ourselves really big people- what would you now recommend given our circumstances Thank you for your assistance with this matter. >

Hi Joanna,

Thank you for your questions.

I am sorry to hear of your issues with Bensons, but would advise that we would never recommend a pillow top mattress because the pillow top tends to flatten over a short period of time and therefore reduces the lifespan of the mattress to which they are attached.

I note that your current mattress comes with "luxurious deep fillings"", but the actual GSM (grams per square metre) are not disclosed, making any comparison impossible.

At the body weights you have provided you will both require a medium spring tension for sufficient support. At 10 stone you are borderline between a soft and a medium however, given that you prefer a firmer feel a medium would be best.

As you prefer a firm mattress please take a look at the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 and the Artisan Bespoke which are the firmest models in the ranges.

If either of you are side sleepers we would not recommend choosing anything too firm as this will only cause aches and pains in your pressure points, something with a medium or a medium/ firm would be better. The Origins Pocket 1500 and the Artisan Naturals are the medium models in the ranges.

To discuss the suitability of our products further please give the office a call on 0161 437 4419 to speak to one of our friendly advisors.

Kind regards,
Amy.
