Best base for Artisan 1500

Thank you for your question. We pair the Artisan 1500 mattress with the Artisan Pocket Sprung base, which cushions the mattress. This combination is specifically engineered to work in harmony, allowing the unique features of the mattress to shine through. When used with the Artisan Pocket Sprung base, the mattress benefits from additional shock absorption and flexibility, enhancing its overall performance.  However, if you choose to place this mattress on a platform base, such as the Contemporary Platform base, or a slatted base instead, it will result in a firmer feel due to the increased stability of such bases. While the mattress will still provide support, the absence of the cushioned interaction with its intended base may lead to a slightly firmer feel in the internal support.

We always recommend getting the type of base you like the look of, as aesthetics play an important role in your overall bedroom design. If you prefer a slatted base for its style, you can enhance its performance by boarding over the slats with MDF or plywood. This simple modification will create a solid and uniform surface that ensures the mattress is supported evenly across its entire length and width. This way, you can maintain both the visual appeal of your chosen base and the comfort of your mattress.
