Hi
We have a slatted bedstead (not raised, but nailed on), and would like to know the best mattress to choose. We currently have a Hypnos (called Firm Rest 3 by John Lewis) that we bought about 6 years ago. The mattress was fine at first, but now has become too hard for us!We are a couple. I am 5ft 8 and 165 pounds, and my wife is about 5ft 6 and about 160.Can you recommend any mattresses or mattress with bedstead, either double or kingsize. We have limited storage, and currently have storage boxes under our bed (we have a double).Kind regardsMike

Hi Mike

Thank you for your question.

Your slatted base is fine to use with any mattress. I would recommend a mattress that has a good medium support spring, which is the best support level for your body weights, and then also offers a medium comfort feel in the top upholstery layers i.e not too soft or too firm.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

In the Origins range the model would be the Origins pocket 1500, from the Artisan range, those that contain more natural upholstery fillings, the models to look at are the Artisan 1500, Artisan Tailored Pocket, Artisan Naturals and the Artisan Bespoke 004, these all offer that medium comfort feel, and we would use a medium tension spring within the mattress.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards Gary
