Can a mattress tuft be repaired

Hi we just turned our mattress over and unfortunately due to the weight we ended up folding it in half for a few seconds before it landed back on the divan! I noticed today that a couple of the tufts have popped up (one of the woollen tufts actually came off during the turning process). Do you think this is a big problem? Can they be fixed?

Kind regards

Hannah

Hi Hannah,

Thank you for your question.

Tufting is the traditional finish or the ‘buttons’ that keep the internal upholstery stable. These tufts can either be felt washers /pom poms/woollen tufts, there is no standard and all are acceptable.   As your mattress is missing a couple of the tufts, the fillings inside the mattress are therefore going to become unstable.   The tufts can be repaired and there are a couple of mattress repair Companies that actually do these repairs.  You would need to google 'mattress tufting repair' which will then bring up the Companies who are able to assists you.
