Can you help with topper choice for Artisan mattress?
Hi, RE - Origins latex 1500 KS with the 2 layers of 3cm 60/40 latex already in this single sided mattress, would you be able to advise if an additional topper would be a good idea. Looking on DAWP, I was thinking their classic microfiber 5cm topper direct to the mattress under the bottom sheet, then an additional substantial all season Australian wool topper at 30cm could be inserted into a double duvet cover as a sleep surface?
would this wool blend topper complement the primary layer of this mattress as you suggest is what I should be aiming to do. me - 12.4st sound side sleeper - don't like to be hot. wife - 9.6st prefers to be warm aiming for Med tension PS with artisan natural mattress would same wool topper be good choice?
or overkill Thanks for any guidance. Br Rob Wilson >
Hi Rob,
The Origins Pocket Latex 1500 would feel on the firmer side for your wife whilst being medium firm for you.
Your bodyweight | This will feel |
---|---|
Under 10 Stone / 63kg | Very Firm |
10-12 Stone / 63-76kg | Firm to Medium |
12-14 Stone / 76-88kg | Medium to Firm |
14-16 Stone / 88-101kg | Medium |
16-18 Stone / 101-114kg | Medium to Soft |
18 Stone / 114kg Plus | Please call for advice |
The Classic Microfibre topper would be beneficial to adding a softer comfort layer for your wife but even so, i think the support properties of this mattress as a whole may be a bit too much.
I note that you were then looking at introducing the Australian Wool topper, which follows the same line of thinking.
I question at this stage whether the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 is the right choice of mattress for you.
As there is a weight differential of just under 3 stones, it may be more appropriate for you to look at the Artisan Range and this mattress could be made in a split tension of Medium for you and Soft for your wife.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
The introduction of a topper would then add a further comforting element.
The one thing to bear in mind when purchasing a mattress is that you can soften a firm mattress, but you cannot firm up a soft mattress.
I hope this helps, but if you need any further assistance, please call the office on 01619453757.
Kind Regards Gary
