Choosing a bed for side sleeper
hi I I'm looking for a king size mattress and base. I'm 5 ft 8 and a side sleeper and weigh 13 stone. my partner is 9 stone. I have a maximum budget of £ 1500. I currently sleep on a bed that is too firm and roll around a lot while I sleep. I wonted to know what bed you would recommend?
Hi John,
Thanks for your question.
At your body weight you will need a Medium spring tension to get the right support whereas your partner is borderline between a Soft and Medium spring. If they want a bit more give choose the Soft or for a bit more of a supportive feel they can choose the Medium.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Side sleepers need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers as this will only cause pressure point pains in places such as shoulders, hips and knees. As such you need to generally be looking at something more medium overall.
Have a look at our Artisan Naturals or Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 mattresses. Both are constructed with 85% natural fillings with the main difference being that the Tailored Pocket 2000 is ever so slightly firmer in it's top upholstery. Both are very much medium feeling models overall.
If you think there is a lot of disturbance then it might be worth looking at a Zip and Link mattress; This will give you 2 separate mattresses and you can't transfer movement between the springs as they are 2 separate entities.
I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards, Lee.
