Do I need a sprung edge divan?
is it necessary to have sprung edge divan base with pocket sprung sky zip mattresses. Using one med + one firm. Worried that sprung edge will give too much at edge when sitting on edge. Would prefer ottoman base
Hi Sheila,
Thank you for your question.
There’s no requirement to have a sprung edge base with a pocket sprung mattress. Some people prefer a sprung edge base as it give a deeper sink feeling to the mattress, some reporting it makes a mattress feel slightly softer.
You can couple a pocket sprung mattress with any base providing it is in good condition and is stable enough to take the weight of the mattress. We do advise that if a slatted base is being used then you board over the slats to prevent settlement between the slats.
We do make Ottoman Bases and attach herewith a link to our website which explains all about these types of bases. We have a range of fabric which our bases can be made in for which we do not charge any extra.
