Do you sell low bases with spring slats
Hi Patricia,
Thank you for your question. We only make two types of bases, the Artisan Pocket Sprung base and the Contemporary Platform base, which provide a uniform support across the mattress. We can reduce the height of these bases to either 6 in, 8 in or 10 in. There would be no drawer options available and there would be an additional cost of 10% on the price of a standard size.

We do not sell slatted bases of any kind, as our mattresses are fully breathable and do not require the additional airflow provided by this type of base. However, we always say to get the base you like the look of, as you have to live with it. Flat slatted bases are the better option, as long as the space between the slats is less than 7.5cm, you just need to cover the slats with an old or cheap duvet or blanket to protect the underside of the mattress from indentations and possible staining. If the gap is larger than 7.5cm, the slats have to be boarded over with MDF or Plywood to prevent the springs from settling in the gap. If they do, you will not get the correct support, and it will damage the mattress.
A sprung slatted base will not soften the overall feel of a mattress, the only type of base that will do that is a pocket sprung base. Sprung slats give the illusion of softening the mattress by moving up and down. Problems can arise with this type of base when the mattress doesn't push the slats down but sits at the top of the arches. When this happens, you can roll into the middle or it can look as if the mattress has dipped in the middle. This is due to there being no support for the centre of the mattress. This can be remedied by placing a piece of MDF or Plywood along the centre of the base, bridging the two sets of arches, which will then support the centre of the mattress and solve the issue.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
