Does vertical vs horizontal split in a base make a difference?

A customer asked

Hi,

I am considering the artisan divan base and noticed the pictures show a vertical split in the divan base. Is this the case and does this offer an advantage over the more common horizontal split? I'm looking for a base which will reduce roll together and roll off sensations. I would be using this with a firm edge latex topped springs/" class="">pocket spring mattress.

Many Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Thank you for your question.

There is no difference in terms of comfort or feel with a horizontal or vertical split base.

When looking at bases the main difference is that a sprung base such as our Artisan Base will make the mattress feel slightly softer overall and a platform top base such as our Contemporary Platform Divan will make the mattress feel slightly firmer overall. It does not affect the upholstery layers it is the spring system that it firms up or softens slightly.

The Origins Platform base is the only base that comes with a horizontal split.

We can make the Artisan base and the Contemporary divan with a horizontal split but this would make them a Bespoke Item which would not come with a love it or return it guarantee.

All of our mattresses are made with True edge support which will eliminate any roll off feeling.

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards,
Amy.
