Finding a mattress for two different weight sleepers!

A customer asked

My partner and I are the human equivalent of the duckling and elephant in some bed ads and we need a new mattress/bed.
We fell foul of a bargain mattress just over a year ago which has let the 'elephant' down. The 'duckling' is still happy but 'elephant' is getting a bad back!
Plus, the edge is breaking down along with the springs.
We had a new sprung divan and mattress from a local bed shop about five or six years ago, which we were very pleased with for some time, but felt we just needed a replacement mattress. Is this a good idea if, this time, we get a pair of zip-linked ones from you each with the different tensions? Lastly, would we be able to replace 'elephant's' side alone when the time comes?
(FYI 'Elephant' is around 22 stone)

Hi Trish,

Thanks for your question.

With differing body weights, a split tension Zip and Link set of mattresses would seem to be the most appropriate solution.

Your partner is the top end of a Firm spring tension to get the right support but we would need to know your body weight in order to discuss suitability for yourself.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Unfortunately, as zip and link mattresses are made as a pair, it is not possible to change only one half when that fails as it will be impossible to match the zips up and, even though your side might feel alright, it will no doubt have settled, meaning that a new one next to it will appear higher.

We would need to know your preferred feel in the top layers as well as your sleeping habits in order to make a recommendation as we have many different models with many different feels in our Origins and Artisan ranges.

I hope this helps but please come back to me at your earliest convenience on 0161 437 4419 to discuss this further.

Kind Regards, Lee.
