RE: https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/understanding-beds/question/advice-on-slatted-bedframes/
We've decided on a pocket sprung mattress, and we're trying to narrow it down between the Artisan 1500 and the Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000.
We've tried out some vi-spring mattresses to act as comparison points.
We found the Regal Superb a little on the soft side, but overall comfortable (in medium tension)
We found the Herald Superb comfortable with a nice firmness in the upholstery (in medium tension). However, it is way outside our price range.
Both of these were tried on sprung divan bases - we would be placing ours on a sprung slatted base on a bedstead.
We also tried a Vi Spring Wembury Superb in John Lewis. This is listed as a "bedstead mattress" and was on a bedstead when we tried it. We found it a nice middle ground in between the two other Vi-spring models we tried, firmer than the regal superb but not as firm as the herald superb.
My question is, given the above, which of your mattresses would you recommend?
Thanks again,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Thank you for your question.

From the two mattresses that you have looked at, I would recommend that as you require slightly firmer top layers, that you look at the Artisan 1500 as this mattress does have slightly firmer upholstery layers than the Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000.

The Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 however does have a slightly firmer spring tension due to the spring unit used in this mattress.

I hope the above is of assistance to you, but please do not hesitate to telephone me on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards Gary
