Guarantee comparisons to Ikea's 25 years
Hi there, your website is to be commended for its detailed knowledge and advice. Its makes very interesting reading so thank you.
Having paid over £1,000 for a Vispring mattress which hurt my hips terribly giving me constant nights tossing and turning with the pain, I decided to try the Eve which was way too hard. Then I turned to the Which recommended Leesa. This is now being returned as it takes too long to bounce back again and I feel in a hole in the mornings where I have slept, and it feels like I'm lying on concrete - very uncomfortable. If I wake in the night that's it I can't get back to sleep as it's too uncomfortable.
I am at a loss as to which mattress to get. I am looking at the ikea Hyllestad as both my children have this mattress and they love it. I find it a bit too soft but Ikea do offer a firmer option.
What gets me is Ikea offer a 25 year guarantee for a £250 mattress, whereas your £400-£600 mattresses only offer a 2 and 3 year guarantee. I know Ikea must not be as good as your mattresses but why do you only guarantee yours for such a short period of time.
I am 5'6" and about 10 stone 10 lbs so any recommendations would be very useful. My budget is around the £500 mark?
I look forward to hearing your expert comments.
Good Morning Elaine,
Thank you for your questions.
I'm sorry to hear of the issues that you've been having with your mattresses.
In regards to guarantee periods there is nothing to say that our mattresses won't last longer than the 2-3 year period. For maintenance and care we always recommend flipping and rotation of our mattresses once a month within the first year.
This means that you are evenly distributing the wear and tear across both sides of the mattress and in turn prolonging the life span of the mattress.
I'm not entirely sure how such a cheap IKEA mattress from could come with such a lengthy guarantee; Usually if a mattress is filled with more natural fibres and materials then they do tend to have a longer lifespan meaning a longer guarantee. One thing to remember is that you must have your original receipt.
Given the body weight provided we would match you with a Medium spring tension; This is what gives support from inside the mattress itself.
You haven't really specified what size mattress you are looking for but given the budget I would guide you to our Origins range. Given that you don't want anything too soft I would point you more to our Origins Pocket 1500. However, dependent on the size it might come in slightly outside of your budget.
John Ryan By Design Origins 1500 | |
---|---|
1 | 300gsm Wool |
2 | 750gsm Very Soft Polyester |
3 | 500gsm Polyester Pad |
4 | One Inch Foam Insulator Layer |
5 | 1500 Spun Bond Pocket Springs |
This model is a great all rounder and is more medium feeling in it's comfort layers; I.e, not too soft nor too firm. You won't sink in to this mattress too much and it will provide support.
I hope that this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries then please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards, Lee.
