Michael

Hello again! I am looking at buying a Harrison bed. I weigh 9 stone. It has around 9000 pocket springs, it has Latex, Wool, Egytian Cotton, Mohair, Hemp, Linen, Silk and Cashmere. I was going to buy this bed in soft tension but the person said that is like so soft and will only last like two years cause the springs will keep getting softer and softer, he said if I choose a Medium tension it will still be very comfy and last me around 10 years plus. The bed actually has 10,900 springs for a Kingsize but he said since I am ordering a double, I will get around 9000 springs. Like I said, I am 9 stone. Medium tension, 9000 springs and all they fillings above, Do you think this will be a really good bed? I know it isn't the best bed, but it is probably the best bed I can find. It is either this bed or the Millbrook Enchantment 3000, but I think this bed is much better than the Enchantment 3000. This is the best bed I can afford. I know that you know so much about beds, and if someone like you said this bed would be a great bed then I would buy this bed straight away, but I don't know much about beds, that is why I am asking you. So... Will this be a great and very comfortable bed? What do you think? Can't wait to hear what you say back!

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your questions.

As you will be aware the published details of the product you are looking to buy are vague in terms of the upholstery by way of GSM (grams per square metre), which makes providing any opinion as to quality and performance impossible. The same applies to the Millbrook product you refer to. Not withstanding this, I would advise that with your body weight, you require a soft tension however if you prefer a slightly firmer support you would also be suited to a medium spring tension.

Spring Tension Wire diameter (Gauge) Weight Range
Soft 1.2mm Bespoke Tension (Please Call)
Medium 1.4mm Upto 16 stone
Firm 1.6mm 16 stone plus
Extra Firm / Orthopaedic 1.9mm 20 stone plus

Harrisons and Millbrook are well known bed manufacturers and I would say that if you like one of these products, they suit your requirements and fall within your budget, you should opt for one of them. I am not able to do a like for like comparison for the reason specified above. If you require more assurances in respect of quality and performance, have you considered contacting the manufacturers direct?

Kind regards,
Amy.
