Help, we're on our 4th matress and still no joy!

Hi there, since our old Kaymed Torino mattress stopped being comfortable after 10 years faithful service, we have tried 4 mattresses. An i-gel from Benson's, an Eve, an Emma and currently trying a Simba Earth mattress. All have left both me and my wife with varying levels of back or shoulder pain. The Simba has been best so far but it's very firm and if I lie on my back for a while I get lower back pain. I'm also getting pins and needles in my hands sometimes, I think from too much pressure on my shoulders.

We found the Kaymed amazing - it was pocket sprung with a gel top layer and felt plush but also seemed very supportive. It's one of the few mattresses I could spend an unlimited amount of time in and not wake up stiff.

We're coming to the end of our trial period with the Simba and thinking of returning it. We're both mixed sleepers -side and back - and weigh 72kg and 78kg respectively.

Hoping you can advise what we should be looking for.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the Kaymed Torino mattress you previously had. This makes it very difficult to say why the Kaymed was so much better for you than the memory foam mattresses you have been trying.

The mattresses you have been trailing have a firmer medium overall feel which is causing pressure pains in your shoulders and causing the pins and needles. When sleeping on your side, if the mattress is too firm you can also pivot on your shoulder and hip which puts pressure on your lower spine.

From our range of pocket sprung mattresses, I would recommend the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 mattress. The way that Latex works is that it requires pressure to be able to mould to you which means the lighter your body weight the firmer it will feel. At the body weights provided, this mattress will give the 72 kg person a slightly firmer than medium level of comfort and the 78 kg person a medium overall feel. This is ideal for all sleep positions as it is not too firm for side sleepers nor too soft for front and back sleepers. Latex has the added benefits of being more breathable and not heat retentive as it doesn't require body heat to mould to you like memory foam and it is also much more responsive, instantly returning to its original shape.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

This mattress has two layers of Talalay latex as the comfort layer on the top of 1500 pocket springs that are medium spring tension as standard. This spring tension will provide you both with the correct level of support at your body weights.

I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards

Michaela
